The Cairn Terrier is a breed that has its roots in Scotland. Developed on the Isle of Skye, this tiny terrier powerhouse was bred to help keep the property free of vermin. It’s a dynamo, to be sure. Because the Cairn Terrier was bred to ferret out vermin like rats and mice, it has a strong urge to dig as well as a high prey drive. It’s a trait that’s been ingrained into its very core since it was first bred, and it’s not going to change anytime soon.

Getting the Stink Off of Your Messy Small Hypoallergenic Dog

The standard bathing procedures apply to getting the dirt and stink off of this most courageous of messy small hypoallergenic dogs. The only extra tip to remember is that because of its exceptionally thick coat, you’ll need to be extra vigilant about rinsing it. You don’t want any soap residue left on the skin. It can be an irritant.

Luckily, bathing your stinky little guy or girl is easy. If you have a tub, do it in there, so your pooch can’t escape. Simply get your little stink bomb good and wet, and lather it up with a good Aloe and Oatmeal shampoo until your Cairn Terrier looks more like a Bichon Frise. Just be sure not to get water in its ears.

Really scrub with your fingertips to get all of the ground in dirt out of its coat and off of its skin. You want to do a good job here, because chances are, this pigpen of messy small hypoallergenic dogs is covered head to toe in filth. After a good scrubbing, simply rinse until the water runs clear and then rinse for another full minute just to be safe.

That’s it. Your dirty, stinky Cairn Terrier is now a squeaky clean Cairn Terrier! =D It only takes about 10 – 15 minutes to clean up your little hunter, so let him run around out back and get out all of its energy.
